Recently, I finished Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (a remake of the first MGS; the original is superior btw), and it reminded me of my favorite speech in all of gaming. It comes from the ending of MGS2.

BTW, the speech doesn’t contain spoilers, so you can watch it even if you haven’t started playing the series. But I still recommend waiting until you finish the game to hear it in all its greatness.

For me, it’s the most life-changing speech I’ve ever heard.

I interpret it as Kojima encouraging other people to create art. I honestly believe that everyone should do something creative every now and then. It helps you develop a skill and make something that you can pass on, as Kojima said.

MGS1 and MGS3 also have great messages, but their themes of DNA and patriotism just don’t hit me as hard as MGS2’s take on digital society. I haven’t played the rest of the series yet, but I can’t wait.

I think everyone should experience the series because it’s a timeless masterpiece that simply cannot be replaced.

And the games take like six hours each to finish. So I can see myself replaying them once every year or so.
